Map categories

WP Google Street View includes a hierarchical category system to help you organize your map entries.

Creating categories

1. Go to WP Google Street View → Categories in the WordPress admin.
2. Add a new category with a name (e.g., "Storefronts", "Offices", "Restaurants").
3. Optionally set a parent category for hierarchical organization.

Filtering in the admin

On the All Items list, use the category dropdown filter to quickly find maps by category. This is especially useful when managing many map entries across different locations or projects.

Use cases

• A franchise with multiple locations: one category per city or region
• A tourism website with maps for hotels, attractions, and restaurants
• A real estate agency with maps organized by property type or neighborhood
• A web agency managing maps for multiple client sites

Note on front-end

Categories are an admin-side organizational tool. They do not currently affect front-end output or create archive pages. Each map is still embedded via its individual shortcode.
